Environmental Toxin Screening

Assess Potential Toxic Burden in the Body

Understand Detoxification & Metabolic Function

In modern life, the body may be continuously exposed to environmental chemicals through air, water, food, and everyday products. As exposure accumulates over time, the body relies on metabolic and elimination processes to help maintain internal balance.

Environmental Toxin Screening analyzes urine-based metabolites and biological markers to provide insights into how the body processes external substances, offering supportive information for health management and lifestyle planning.

Key Focus Areas & Support Insights in Environmental Toxin Testing

In modern daily life, the body may be continuously exposed to environmental chemicals and external substances through air, water, food, and everyday products. With ongoing exposure and accumulation, the body relies on metabolic and elimination processes to help maintain internal balance.

BMS Clinic utilizes urine-based analysis of environmental toxin-related metabolites and biomarkers to help evaluate how the body processes and responds to external substances, providing data-driven insights into environmental exposure, metabolic balance, and overall wellness management.

We commonly focus on the following conditions:

• Fatigue, reduced energy levels, or slower recovery
• Increased sensitivity to smells, air quality, or environmental changes
• Fluctuating or reactive skin conditions
• Digestive discomfort such as bloating or gastrointestinal irregularities
• Increased oxidative stress affecting overall body balance

Environmental toxins refer to external chemical substances that individuals may encounter in daily life, including:

  • Industrial pollutants
  • Plasticizers and chemical additives
  • Heavy metal-related compounds
  • Pesticides and environmental residues
  • Certain volatile organic compounds (VOCs)

These substances may enter the body through food, water, air, skin contact, or environmental exposure.

The body normally processes and eliminates these compounds through metabolic pathways involving the liver, kidneys, and detoxification systems. When exposure levels or metabolic burden increase, related metabolites may become detectable through testing.

This screening evaluates urine-based environmental toxin metabolites to help assess:

  • Potential environmental exposure patterns
  • Metabolic and elimination status
  • Oxidative stress balance
  • The body’s ability to process external substances

What is Environmental Toxin Screening?

Why is Environmental Exposure Important?

Exposure to environmental chemicals has become increasingly common in modern lifestyles. Some studies suggest that long-term exposure to certain environmental factors may be associated with changes in overall wellness and physiological balance.

Some individuals may experience:

  • Fatigue or reduced energy levels
  • Headaches or reduced concentration
  • Sensitive or unstable skin conditions
  • Digestive discomfort
  • Increased sensitivity to odors or chemicals
  • Sleep or stress-related fluctuations

These conditions may involve multiple contributing factors and are not linked to a single cause. Screening data may help provide a more objective understanding of the body’s metabolic and environmental response status.

This assessment uses a urine sample for laboratory analysis:

  • Non-invasive testing method
  • Requires only a small urine sample
  • Advanced laboratory technologies are used to analyze multiple toxin-related metabolites
  • Samples are processed in a professional laboratory setting
  • Reports are typically available within several weeks

Selected parameters may undergo repeat verification procedures to improve data consistency and analytical reliability.

Testing Method

Why using the urine testing?
A first morning urine sample on our signature dried urine card is required to profile the organic acid levels. Liquid urine has poor stability, as degraded after sampling, and the freeze-thaw cycle between transportation may discourage the quality of urine sample. Dried urine card ensure sample stability in storage and transportation even in room temperature condition up to 55 days. Our dried urine card was validated to provide almost 100% of the liquid urine value (r² of 0.997), with great stability and recovery of the analytes.

Where Do Toxins Come From?

Environment sources

Automotive emission, Active/Passive cigarette smoking, Paints, Volatile solvents, Water sources and air.

Occupational sources

Solvents for rubber, Synthetic resins, Gums, Inks, Paints

Household Products

Domestic chemical cleaners, Home fragrance, Rubber flooring

Cosmetics & Personal Care Products

Skincare product, Cosmetics, Deodorants, Perfume, Hair spray, Nail polish, Shampoo, Shower gel

Plastic Products

Food packaging and containers, Cups and disposable utensils, Microwavable boxes, Plastic wrap, Zip-loc Bags, Water bottles, Raincoats and boots

Food & Medicine

Processed food and drinks (concentrated juice sport drinks, jelly, instant food, fast food, pastry), Medical tubing, some medicine (e.g. sleeping pills & antibiotics), Shell of capsule medicine.

Are those symptoms the sign of the toxin accumulation?

Irritating eyes, nose, throat & skin, Taste & Olfactory fatigue

Diarrhea, Nausea, Abdominal pain

Fatigue, Depression, Anxiety, Excitatory effect, Dizziness, Drowsiness, Impaired balance, Difficult concentration, Insomnia, Anorexia

Hormone disorder, Anaemia, Dermatitis, Dyspnoea, Blurred vision

Researches showed that long-term exposure to environment pollutant may causing serious diseases., including nervous system problems, anaemia and cancer, therefore, there are more people concerning about the health risks caused by chronic exposure to toxins

Cancer

Diminished white blood cell, weaken immunity

Disrupt male reproductive organs

Birth defect, abnormal fetal development
